HOW IS NUTRITIONAL THERAPY DIFFERENT
So if you're ready for full-fledged support on your unique journey to healing and optimal wellness, let's dive in!
Nutritional therapy is one of the modalities of naturopathy, a holistic system of healthcare grounded on the principle of treating the cause. So my job involves investigating the cause of your symptoms so that we can address your problematic issues at their core. Nutritional therapy raises two primary questions: what is making a person ill and how appropriate nutrition and nutraceuticals may help get them better.
Correct nourishment is a fundamental prerequisite to vitality which, of course, encompasses mental, emotional, spiritual as well as physical health. Good nutrition, from the perspective of nutritional therapy, can create a healing effect on a diseased body and restore its unbalanced state – and this is very individual. This means there is no “one-size-fits-all” approach. This is achieved by assessing an individual’s genetics, past and current toxin exposure, co-infections, mold exposure, biochemical/nutritional deficiencies, hormonal dysfunction, allergies and intolerances, sleep patterns as well as their psycho-emotional state (stress and traumas). Nutritional therapy is ultimately based on working with the personal biochemistry rather than trying to jam warning signals.
Nutritional therapy, the first tenet of which is “to do no harm”, is additionally preventative. It promotes the right homeostasis to enable one to remain in peak condition – or return to one’s former state of good health – rather than wrestle with the formidable diseases once they are firmly implanted in the body.
It supports a longer more vibrant life, rather than a decade of semi-ambulatory existence before death in the eighth decade. It also encourages a more rational approach to healing – personal involvement in health rather than complete reliance on others.
My objective as a practitioner is to inspire you to optimize your overall health and wellbeing, utilizing bespoke dietary advice as well as tailored nutritional and herbal medicine and lifestyle changes.
